Root Chakra
Your first Chakra is called Muladhara (foundation), or root chakra.
The root chakra is located at the base of your spine.
It provides you with a base or foundation for life, and it helps you feel grounded and able to withstand challenges. Your root chakra is responsible for your sense of security and stability and is connected with Basic Trust.
Associated with the element of Earth, this energy controls your connection to all that grounds and “roots” you in life.
If your root chakra is blocked, expect instability, anxiety and cynicism. You may also experience:
• Existential Crisis
• Disassociation
• Erratic behavior
• Increased distractibility
• Weight fluctuation
• Pressured and rushed
• Exhaustion or lethargy
• Pelvic pain
• Constipation
When you activate the root chakra and it is working effectively, you:
• Feel firmly grounded in yourself and the world around you
• Are physically energetic
• Feel stable and secure
• Are focused and present
To activate, unblock, and balance your root chakra, connect with Earth by spending time grounding yourself. You can do this by sitting, walking or dancing barefoot upon the Earth. Use Hematite to draw the energy from the power of the earth. Meditate in Asana with your hands in the proper Mudra (which means "seal") gesture position with your middle fingers propped against each other, while the thumb and forefinger on the left hand interlocks with the thumb and forefinger on the right:
The Mantra for the Muludhara is LAM and should be chanted during the meditation.
Remember to recite your Affirmations:
"I am safe"
"I am secure"
"I am at home in my body"
"I am at peace with the here and now"
"The Earth Supports and Nourishes me"
The corresponding color is Red (reflective of its connection to survival and manifestation.)
Corresponding Day: Saturday
Stone: Hematite
Oil: Sandalwood
Be sure to incorporate those tools while balancing and unblocking your Root Chakra.
… and don’t forget to practice Compassion*
